MSA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of employee owner Matt Bruckschen who recently earned licensure as a Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) in the state of Wisconsin.

To obtain a DES license, an applicant is required to have a minimum of 7 years of eligible experience in specialized engineering design work and must prove competency by passing the Designer of Engineering Systems Exam. Individuals holding a DES license may engage in the preparation of plans and specifications for projects and are authorized to consult, investigate, and evaluate the plans and specifications of others.
Matt joined MSA in 2023 with the firm’s acquisition of Fredericksen Engineering and serves as a graduate engineer II on the organization’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) team. He has 10 years of experience with a wide variety of public and private development projects including schools, campuses, fire stations, public safety facilities, libraries, and places of worship. Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering rom the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is based in MSA’s Mequon, Wisconsin, office.
“I’m thrilled to congratulate Matt on attaining DES licensure,” commented Kevin Ruhland, senior vice president and senior service line leader for the Buildings division at MSA. “This is a pivotal professional milestone and a testament to the quality of individuals and projects being delivered by our MEP team. I look forward to continuing to work with Matt and applying his talents in delivering smart, efficient solutions to our clients across the state.”
