MSA Wastewater Project Engineer Kim Scherber, PE, graduated recently from the esteemed Water Leadership Institute (WLI) of the Water Environment Federation (WEF), a global organization of over 30,000 members and 75 affiliate member associations representing water quality professionals. Scherber was selected for the 2023 program via a competitive application process, with this year’s class of 54 individuals representing the United States, Canada and Botswana.
The Water Leadership Institute is a 6-month-long intensive focused on advanced training and education for emerging leaders in the world water industry. The curriculum focuses on the complex challenges facing water and wastewater industries, with opportunities to engage in management training and networking with public and private sector practitioners. The WLI class of 2023 is the 12th graduating class of its kind, joining a roster of 451 course alumni around the world.
“I’ve really enjoyed the WLI program” comments Scherber. “It was a privilege to be able to network with water professionals nationally and internationally across both the public and private sectors. That kind of diversity created an engaging learning environment as everyone had their own unique perspective.”
Kim Scherber joined MSA in 2016 and serves as a wastewater project engineer in the firm’s Madison location. She specializes in the planning, design, and construction of mechanical wastewater treatment facilities and holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Iowa State University. Kim is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
All 2023 WLI participants gathered recently at the 96th annual WEFTEC Technical Exhibition and Conference in Chicago, with an official commencement ceremony held Sunday, October 1.
