MSA announced today the achievement of employee owner Emily Herold, AICP, in earning American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.

AICP certification is awarded to professional planners who successfully pass the AICP Certification Exam and prove competency with the institute’s standards, theories, and tools of professional planning. The AICP is the only independent verification of planners’ qualifications in the United States and is a mark of the highest standards of practice, ethics and professional conduct.
Emily joined MSA in 2022 and serves as an associate planner in the firm’s St. Paul, Minnesota, office. Her experience includes developing long-range planning documents such as comprehensive plans, downtown/corridor plans, parks and trail system master plans, housing studies, and zoning ordinance updates, as well as conducting community engagement and providing planner-of-record services. Emily earned a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Minnesota and enjoys working closely with communities across Minnesota and western Wisconsin to make them vibrant places to live, work, and play.
“I’m thrilled to congratulate Emily on earning her AICP certification,” commented Chris Janson, AICP, senior planning team leader. “This is a significant professional milestone, reflective not only of Emily’s technical expertise, but also her commitment to the highest standards of the planning profession and to the communities we serve. I look forward to continuing to work with Emily in the years to come.”
