MSA is pleased to announce the hiring of Cliff Knettel to the role of Community Development Specialist in the firm’s Duluth and Rice Lake offices, lending his expertise to communities across northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Knettel joins MSA with over 22 years of community development, planning, funding and grant administration experience. Past roles have included serving as Executive Director at Neighborhood Housing Services in Duluth, Deputy Director at One Roof Community Housing in Duluth, Development Director at St. Cloud Housing and Redevelpment Authority in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Funding Specialist at Widseth Smith Nolting.
As Community Development Specialist at MSA, Knettel will work to strengthen the firm’s funding capabilities and fortify community development opportunities across the region. He brings a familiarity with grant writing and administration to the role, having worked closely with a variety of local, state and federal agencies supporting community assistance via the Small Cities Development Program, USDA Rural Development, HUD CDBG and HOME Programs, MN Public Facilities Authority, MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), FEMA, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and more.
Knettel earned his B.A. from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and has accomplished Masters-level coursework toward his MBA at both Concordia University and St. Cloud State University in the disciplines of Organizational Development, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance and Economics.
