MSA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of employee owner Owen Mattila, PE, who recently earned Professional Engineer licensure in the state of Wisconsin.

To earn a PE license, engineers must hold a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program, gain experience under a licensed professional engineer, pass two intensive competency exams and earn a license from the state licensure board. PE licensure is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence — a symbol of achievement, assurance of quality and commitment to ethical standards of practice.

Owen serves as a project engineer on the firm’s Public Works service line and is based in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He first joined MSA as an intern in 2022 and was hired as a full-time graduate engineer in 2023. Owen’s experience spans a variety of municipal projects including site design, municipal utility design, roadway reconstruction, and land development — with strong involvement in construction phase-services and coordination, and emphasis on constructability. He holds both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University.
