MSA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of Public Works Project Engineer Jack Dougherty, PE, who recently earned Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. To earn a PE license, engineers must hold a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program, work under a professional engineer for at least four years, pass two intensive competency exams and earn a license from the state licensure board. PE licensure is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence – a symbol of achievement, assurance of quality and commitment to ethical standards of practice.
Dougherty joined MSA in 2021 with over four years of professional experience, most recently as a civil engineer specializing in stormwater, water and wastewater engineering at Seattle-based Coughlin Porter Lundeen. Prior, he worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, lending his talents toward a wide variety of project work, including wastewater pretreatment drafting, engineering plan review and calculations for municipal water quality based effluent limits. Dougherty earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Minnesota. He earned certification in Erosion Construction Site Management from the University of Minnesota and is a certified Polyethylene Pipe Inspector for the City of Duluth. Doughterty also holds certifications with the Minnesota Department of Transportation as a Grading and Base Tester and Inspector as well as an Aggregate Production Tester. He works from MSA’s Duluth office location.
“Huge congratulations to Jack on receiving PE licensure,” commented Mike Statz, chief operating officer at MSA. “This is a key professional milestone in the industry and I look forward to Jack’s continued contributions to the profession, and to the clients and communities he serves.”
