The Village of Pleasant Prairie is situated between the bustling metropolitan areas of Milwaukee and Chicago along Lake Michigan — home to approximately 21,000 residents. Facing consistent population growth and a need for expanded public services, the Village began planning to replace its police department facility as part of a broader civic campus upgrade. The prior police department facility was constructed in 1990 and had become increasingly space-constrained.
The Village hired Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP, for the architectural design of the new facility in partnership with MSA, who led mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design. The new facility spans 27,834 square feet on the lower level and 29,202 square feet on the first floor. It includes space for 50 community squad cars, 8 new dispatch stations, open offices for detective and report personnel, an expanded armory, storage, visitor lobby, and specialized areas for booking and detention, evidence intake and testing, interviews, training, staff offices, and break room areas.

MSA’s MEP designs included new heating and cooling systems, a building automation system, fire protection, domestic water, sanitary, power distribution, lighting, emergency generator, and fire alarm system.
The completed 39th Avenue Police Station is part of a striking, state-of-the-art public safety complex designed to serve the community for decades to come. Construction for the new facility began in October 2023 and the department celebrated its move into the new facility in September 2024.
