MSA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of employee owners Maddie Adkins, PE, and Connor Peterson, PE, who recently earned Professional Engineer licensure in the state of Iowa.

To earn a PE license, engineers must hold a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program, work under a professional engineer for at least four years, pass two intensive competency exams and earn a license from the state licensure board. PE licensure is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence – a symbol of achievement, assurance of quality and commitment to ethical standards of practice.
Maddie is a transportation engineer on MSA’s Mobility service line and is based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She joined the firm in 2019 and has over six years of experience in the design and construction observation of roadway, water main, detention basin, and trail projects across the state. She also is proficient with Iowa DOT procedures for rural and urban roadway and bridge replacement construction projects. Maddie earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisville and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University.
Connor is an engineer on the firm’s Water service line and is based in the Quad Cities area. He joined MSA in 2022 and has over four years of civil engineering experience with clients across Iowa and Illinois. His project work focuses on water and wastewater systems, including planning and design, construction observation and administration, evaluation of treatment and distribution systems, and funding-related services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa.
“Immense congratulations to Maddie and Connor on achieving PE licensure,” commented Mike Statz, chief operating officer at MSA. “Earning one’s PE is a mark of integrity and quality — a significant milestone in one’s engineering career. I commend these individuals for their dedication to professional development and look forward to their contributions to the industry in the years to come.”
