MSA’s design restored more than 4,000 feet of stream and half of an acre of wetland, and reclaimed nearly $1.2 million of property from the 100-year floodplain.

MSA worked with the City of Sun Prairie to enhance a 4,000-foot section of an unnamed tributary to Token Creek. Our team regarded the channel to construct a trapezoidal conveyance channel, ranging in width from 300 to 400 feet, that can contain the 100-year floodplain. Construction of the greenway reduced the area of 100-year floodplain by more than 20 acres, increasing the value of the surrounding undeveloped acreage.

As part of this project, our team realigned the channel to accommodate a high school campus and acquired all DNR and ACOE permits required to fill wetlands associated with the stream realignment. Our design incorporated more than two acres of wetland mitigation area within the greenway, along the section of realigned channel.
