Flooding caused Lake Delton to breach the dam and flow to the Wisconsin River, causing damage to CTH A and nearby properties. MSA partnered with Mead & Hunt to assess the damage and restore the area on a tight schedule.

A weekend of torrential rain caused the amount of water in Lake Delton to exceed the capacity of the Dell Creek Dam. Water flowed out of the lake and created a path to the Wisconsin River, destroying CTH A and shoreline properties on its way. The lake, an important tourist attraction, disappeared. MSA partnered with Mead & Hunt to assess the damage and restore the area before the next tourism season.

The team restored the lake, rebuilt the dam and reconstructed CTH A. They completed the project within 11 months of the flood, which is less than half the time a project of this magnitude would typically take. This project received several state and national awards. It is held up as a model of how to successfully streamline a complex, time-sensitive project through continual communication, teamwork, and technical innovation.

Project awards include:
ACEC-Wisconsin, Best of State – Water Resources
ACEC-National, 2010 Honor Award Winner
Federal Highway Administration 2010 Excellence Award for Project Management
