Corridor planning & access management:
Helping roads and communities work together
As communities grow and travel corridors become congested, it takes careful planning to make sure future road improvements won’t conflict with planned development. Corridor planning involves working with Departments of Transportation and communities to prepare for highway improvements, sometimes decades before they happen.
MSA helps analyze current conditions and plan for improvements, while trying to minimize the impact on those who live and work near the highway. We put together a diverse team of experts to address the many issues involved with roadway improvements. Our planners work with communities to plan their growth and consider land use to reduce or prevent negative impact. MSA’s traffic engineers conduct traffic analysis and look at the impact the improvements will have on secondary roads. Our real estate specialists work with the DOT to map right of way and give them the right to purchase land—while making sure residents know how future improvements will affect them.
Ultimately, we want to make sure connections and access for major highways keep traffic running smoothly and safely. To get there, we listen to what residents have to say, and then tap into our broad range of staff expertise to plan for the next 20 years of road improvements. It’s our know-how that connects the dots and connects communities.
