Aesthetic Bridge Design

To the average person, bridges are simply viewed as a way to move a person or vehicle from one point to another. However, bridges can be more than just functional. Through the use of aesthetic elements, a bridge can be transformed into a work of art.
Aesthetic bridge design is the process of creating bridges that are both visually appealing and functional. In some instances, the engineer takes elements from the bridge’s environment and incorporates them into the design to create a seamless appearance. In other instances, the engineer uses bold architectural features to create a bridge that makes a statement.
The album below highlights some of the ways MSA’s structural engineers are embracing aesthetic bridge designs that are both functional and attractive. You can also view the photo album on Flickr.
