Wisconsin Approves an Additional $43 Million in Transportation Funding

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed a bill into law on Wednesday that will fund an additional $43 million in transportation infrastructure projects. Due to improving revenue streams, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) was projected to have an $84.6 million surplus at the end of the 2013-15 biennium.

The law signed by Walker will allocate approximately half of the projected surplus for highway and bridge rehabilitation projects. The WisDOT had previously identified 11 road and bridge projects that can be completed with the additional funding. The projects are located in Brown, Calumet, Door, Douglas, Langlade, Lincoln, Monroe, Outagamie, Sauk, Taylor and Walworth counties. The bill passed both houses of the Legislature unanimously.
