Jason Olmstead, PE, grew up on a rural Iowa farm and still helps out his family during planting and harvest. Now, as a senior project engineer based at MSA’s Quad Cities office, he will use his knowledge and first-hand experience to assist agricultural producers in Iowa and Illinois.

“With my background, I know how to talk with the producers and help them solve problems,” he said. “Throughout the past 11 years of working on agricultural projects, no two projects have been the same.

Dairy and Beef Farms

At MSA, Olmstead will provide livestock housing, systems, and management services.

Previously, he designed livestock systems for an engineering firm in Peoria, Illinois. His experience includes providing agricultural services for beef farms with herds of 50 to almost 3,000 heads and dairy farms with herds of 300 to 7,000 heads.

Olmstead graduated with a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He is a licensed professional engineer in Iowa, Illinois, Arizona, Hawaii, and Missouri.

He’s a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, Illinois Beef Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and Technical Service Providers Network.

Iowa Roots

Olmstead grew up near Mitchellville, Iowa, and will be relocating to the Quad Cities area.
