Memorable Paris trip inspired Champaign architect

When Jason Meier, AIA, LEED® AP, was a sophomore in high school, he toured France with his family. That memorable trip introduced him to the wonders of the famed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris plus other historic structures and helped inspire him to pursue a degree in architecture. This career path allowed him to combine his interest in structures, design, and art.

Now Meier, with 13 years of experience, is a structural designer/project manager at MSA’s Champaign office.

Meier received a Master of Architecture, with the Architectural Structures Option, and B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois―Urbana-Champaign. He is currently pursuing licensure as a structural engineer in the State of Illinois.

Meier’s educational background allows him to fully collaborate on all aspects of building design – both architectural and structure.

“I want to work on projects that make a difference in people’s everyday lives,” he said. “I enjoy designing structures used for municipal, education and health care purposes.”

Meier, a licensed architect in Illinois, will be involved in civic and municipal structures. He obtained a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification because he wanted to learn more about sustainable design.
