MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA) welcomed a group of university students from Suzhou, China, this week. Suzhou is located approximately an hour west of Shanghai. The group, hosted by Dr. Jim Park of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is visiting several United States universities. Their goal is to learn more about the U.S., our culture and educational system, and foster grassroots international cooperation.
During their visit, CEO Gil Hantzsch and Wastewater Team Leader Tom Fitzwilliams shared an introduction to the firm and provided an overview of how engineering firms like MSA serve our clients. Tom illustrated this with an example of a real-world project his team is working on, including a demonstration of how we use 3D computer graphics to share project renderings with clients.
“It was a great privilege to introduce American business ideals to these students who are looking to make a difference in the world,” said Hantzsch. “Opportunities like these are rare and we are lucky to have a relationship with UW-Madison.”
The students represented a variety of majors, including architecture, urban and regional planning, graphic design, English and communications. The professor, who was accompanied by her husband and young son, is a professor of chemical engineering. After visiting Wisconsin, the group will travel east to visit other universities in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Boston before returning to China.
