MSA Professional Services has promoted Jim Holz, AICP, to Director of Client Services. Holz, a 19-year veteran of the firm, will lead and oversee the firm’s business development efforts.

His team works with clients to understand their challenges and engage the appropriate MSA experts to develop solutions to those challenges.

Safranek to retire

Holz replaces Clement Safranek, the former director, who will continue providing business development services until his retirement in December 2016.

“Jim is a visionary who helps communities to refine and ultimately realize their own vision," said MSA President/CEO Gilbert Hantzsch. "He advocates for them and is able to draw upon the entire talent pool at MSA to bring more ideas and better solutions to our clients.”

“Jim will lead a team of Client Service Managers who work with our staff to ensure that our clients have a consistently positive experience when working with MSA. I look forward to seeing how Jim can help transform the delivery of our services to clients and communities across the Upper Midwest,” he added.

Holz helped with Iowa expansion

Holz, based at the firm’s Dubuque office, was instrumental in developing the firm’s four Iowa offices. Other offices are in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities.

While at MSA, Holz has been involved in all aspects of community development projects, including the conception, financing, and implementation of planning efforts. He has secured more than $14 million in grant funding for our community clients.

Holz is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Geography and Land Use from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ.
