The Village and MSA officials and staff worked together to obtain a long-awaited new well.

The Village of Hancock’s water system is now better than ever with the construction of Well No. 2. The community no longer has to rely on just one well to supply drinking water and provide fire protection.

The Village recently celebrated the construction of the new well with an Open House.  Village board members, staff, residents and others with ties to the Village participated.

MSA Professional Services (MSA) Marshfield, the engineering team for the $1.3 million project, helped the Village secure grants and funding for 74% of the total project cost through the Wisconsin Department of Administration Community Development Block Grant and Department of Natural Resources Safe Drinking Water Loan Programs.

Rich and Connie Hamilton of Hancock, donated property for the well site.

The Village drilled three test wells with unsuccessful results before finding a reliable water source that does not need treatment at the current location. Well No. 2 pumps approximately 500 gallons per minute of quality water from the sand and gravel aquifer.

The project also included replacement of a water main that experienced multiple breaks and electrical and system upgrades to the existing well and water tower.
