A cold-in-place recycling (CIR) project in Sauk County, designed by MSA, earned an “Excellence in Asphalt Paving” award from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation at a recent conference, hosted by the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association.

D.L. Gasser Construction, Baraboo, was honored for the CTH H project located between Reedsburg and Wisconsin Dells in Sauk County. The award was presented at the Contractor-Engineer Conference held in Madison, WI.

The CTH H project was the first project in Wisconsin to utilize a specialized type of CIR machine that combines several of the CIR elements into one machine. This process is gaining popularity in the Midwest for reconstruction of deteriorating asphalt roadways. It offers cost effectiveness, durability and environmental benefits.
