Felland’s career evolved from zoology to civil engineering

Jeff Felland, PE, took a circuitous route to his present role as project engineer in MSA’s Madison office.

His previous experience included biological field work, where he surveyed for sensitive species, like owls, and a stint in the Peace Corps in Kenya. He then decided to obtain a degree in civil engineering.

As a water resources engineer, he works to protect the environment and improve water quality.

“My current position allows me to combine my interests in civil engineering and natural resource conservation,” he said.

Before joining MSA, Felland was a project engineer at two firms in Madison and one in Pittsburgh. His interests include stream and lake restoration/stabilization, stormwater design, wetlands and floodplain mapping.

Felland earned B.S. Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Zoology and Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
