Dan Borchardt, P.E., of MSA’s Marshfield office, is now credentialed as an Envision™ Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.

Envision professionals determine a project’s degree of sustainability and work to optimize project elements to achieve the next level of sustainability.

This tool assesses a project’s impacts to quality of life, leadership, resource allocation, natural world, and climate and risk.

Help reach sustainable goals

Public and private infrastructure owners can turn to Envision professionals for assistance to help them meet sustainability goals and be recognized for high levels of achievement in sustainability.

Community priorities also can be addressed in the design and construction of civil infrastructure projects.

ASCE supports Envision

Borchardt now serves as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Wisconsin Section. ASCE supports the Envision program and its members are working to make the world more sustainable.

“Designing resilient infrastructure and taking a holistic approach to optimizing the performance of that infrastructure is such an important part of what we do, as engineers. As infrastructure needs grow further apart from the available funding, it is important to look into long-term solutions that allow future generations to enjoy the same or better quality of life that we now enjoy,” Borchardt said.

Envision Qualified Company

Because Borchardt is an ENV SP, MSA is now listed as an Envision Qualified company. Borchardt is one of 44 Wisconsin individuals who have received this accreditation.

Borchardt earned a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
