Wild Rose Community Center & Patterson Memorial Library Addition
Wild Rose, Wisconsin
CHALLENGE
The community’s existing library is undersized and on a difficult triangular corner lot. The Village desired a community room for multi-purpose public use including the local senior meals program and the library needs more space.
SOLUTION
MSA studied alternatives and it was decided to add on to the existing building. MSA developed a building expansion design that complements the existing colonial character of the building. A 2,800 square foot addition provides a community room/entry addition and creates a new common lobby space with accessible restrooms, a kitchen and a sub-dividable gathering room that allows for primary library use on one side and a varied community use on the other. A 700 square foot library addition serves for added collection space. With the library’s existing gathering space moving into the community room addition, this provided additional library areas in the existing building area. Remodeling to accommodate a new circulation desk and work area is also provided.
MSA developed a strategy to apply for grant funding through the Community Development Block Grant Program. The community received $200,000 in grant funding to put towards the $696,000 project. The facility was completed in January 2006. |
